Carbon consumption on the bbq is kept to an absolute minimum because the ceramic lining is a truly efficient heat insulator. It genuinely retains heat and moisture even in winter.
The heat regulation of the charcoals is beautifully implemented by means of scales. Both the lid and the bottom air intake openings are provided with numerical scales to help you easily adjust the air in the bbq. The grilling grate has a hinged side. It makes adding both charcoals and smoking chips effortless.
Ps. The manual still includes air decision tips for the most common grilling methods. That way, as a novice kamadogriller, you won't get lost.
The lid is a bit heavy to open and close, after all it is solid ceramic. However, there are no worries about chipping when closing: a spring on the grill lid facilitates movement when opening and closing, and the finishing touch is provided by the padding on the outer edges of the lid when it hits the ground. Opening and closing the heavy lid is ultimately a pleasure.
The lid handle is one of the best in the kamados. It is not bolted on, as is usually the case, but has a steel piece going all the way through the handle. This way the handle is ergonomic, insulates the hot iron part and is rigid.
The side plates on the kamado can be raised up as well as down. The side plates have hooks for grilling utensils.
